Bhogha Nandeeswara Temple
Situated in the foothills of Nandi, in the quiet town of Nandi the Bhogha Nandeeshwara temple is one of the finest examples of the Dravidian architecture. This temple most of the times gets overlooked by the majestic hills. It is an ASI recognized site with the green expanse welcoming you and the temple coming in later after some walk.

The construction of the temple started over 1000 years ago and was built in stages with each stage expanding the temple premises. It was built from 9th to the 15th century starting from the nolamba rulers to the Hoysala rulers and finally the Vijaynagara kingdom rulers.

This temple is dedicated to Shiva and Parvati. It contains three shrines to Arunachaleshwara temple, the Uma Maheshwara temple and the Bhiga Nandeeshwara. The temple is also famous for its huge kalyani (temple tank). The complex also contains a kalyana mantapa and has a chariot stationed outside the entrance.

This temple, along with nandi Hills is a perfect weekend getaway for bangaloreans as it is roughly situated around 60kms from Bangalore.
